I have on older snaffle bit that has changed color.

It is not rusty, I have tried cleaning it with a scrubby, it makes no difference.
It seems like the metal has just changed color.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I have tried it on my mare and she seemed to like it fine.
I hesitate to use it if something about the color change could make her sick.

I would be more concerned about wear and tear on an old bit that would make some of the edges rough or sharp, cutting her mouth.

If there are no sharp edges etc I think it would be fine. I always thought horses like the taste of slightly rusty bits. Cant remember where I heard that, maybe I am wrong. But just like Hally said as long as its still smooth I see no problem and your horse should answer that better than us.
