Hi there,
just wanted to make a suggestion that has worked for me for feeding confined horses: get hay that has tested low in carbs and feed free-choice. It can be hard to find but not impossible. I store and sell low sugar hay for insulin resistant horses but it also works great for confined horses. They can munch all day and all but the easiest of keepers won't gain weight.

PS Love the suggestion about country music DrO!!
