Hi, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything good or bad about the newer Flex-trees available, specifically on the Abetta trail saddles?

Thanks,
Jeans.

Hi Jean I have a circle Y flex tree and I like it very well except the seat is to big for me, as far as fitting the horse it seems to fit all of mine but I am not a saddle fitter.

I rode in a Abetta a couple times when considering what to get... a friend had one for sale....I didn't like it, it felt very cheaply made and uncomfortable. That's why the person was trying to sell it. Just my experience.

I bought an Abetta saddle, though not a "flex-tree" one. For me it was comfortable and light weight. I think that it would have been okay for my horse with occasional riding, but I ride hard and long and my boy got a really bad back problem from the saddle, and I know of two other people who had similar experiences with this brand. If you ride seldom and lightly and the saddle does not "bridge", you may do well. My experience was not good.

On the other side of the coin......I have had the same abetta saddle for 6 years now. It fits all my TWH very well and I use it for all arena work and as an extra saddle when trail riding. I just changed out the plastic stirrups with leather ones.

It has been on all my horses backs for hours at a time, with no ill effects or sore backs whatsoever. Since all horses are different shapes and sizes, I would do a trial period on any saddle before I purchased it. You can go to just about any tack shop and try a used saddle before you purchase it. That way you can tell whether it fits both you and your horse.
