I would like to buy a set of English spurs for occasional use.
As I look through the catalogue I see quite a variety.
Is there anything I should look for or avoid?

Hi Lori, I think the answer to your question relies somewhat on the stability of your lower leg and heel. If you have a really good lower leg, choose according to the sensitivity level of your horse. In my case, I don't trust my lower leg, so have purchased a small (I think 1/4" neck), round-knobbed spur to reduce the chance of poking my horse by accident...I can only use them when I make a deliberate effort.
