I'm thinking of getting a new saddle (actually used) for trail riding. I am looking at either a Circle Y Flex-lite trail saddle or a Ortho-Flex Trail saddle. I've seen several of these in the Barrel saddles on ebay in my size (14") and want to know if the barrel saddle would be as comfortable as an actual "trail-saddle". Since I'm a 60 yr-old small woman, I'm looking for comfort as much as security. I'm currently riding in a very comfortable little endurance saddle, but want to get something a little better built and sturdier (also lite-weight).
Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Randi, I have a Circle Y Flex-lite trail saddle, I like it quite well. Saddles really depend on the person..Personally I have always loved barrel saddles as far as comfort and security. I had one years ago, the horse I was using it on "out grew" it! IF I was going to get another saddle I would certainly consider a barrel saddle again. My friends that rode in it all liked it..matter of fact I sold it to one when it didn't fit anymore.

I like the Circle Y, but a few of my friends thinks it sets them forward a bit. The barrel saddle seems to sit you a little more deep..so I guess it's a matter of preference
