I saw the informative discussion below about the fittings on the Cashel SoftSaddle. I have a different question about it: does it provide withers and spine clearance? Have any of you who have used it had problems with the horse getting a sore back or withers? My barn manager raised this concern when I mentioned I was thinking of getting one. I found a review of them where the reviewer said she dug a gullet out of the foam. I don't want to pay $250 for something I will have to cut up! I would love to use it for trail rides of up to 2 hours. I am less than 12% of my horse's weight (taking these considerations from the treeless saddles discussion on this site).

Thank you.
