  Discussion on Arab Tack Search

Been searching the web all morning looking for a simple, western style headstall that will fit my Arab mare. Looked in all the usual places (State Line, Valley Vet, etc.) and even the Arab Horse search machine. All I found was the very expensive, very fancy show stuff. Any one out there in the Advisor world know a good shopping site on the Web specifically for everyday Arab items?!! Thanks!

Linda--Usually, I find that quarter horse headstalls will fit my Arabians. One thing I ask the catalog people to do is to measure the browband and the maximum & minimum length of the cheek pieces. Before it dawned on me to do that, I got a number of bridles that were too narrow at the browband with cheek pieces that were too long.

Or, you can always get a one-ear head stall.

Or, try going to endurance.net and shopping through their vendors section. They have lots of Arab gear.

Many thanks! "Missy" is my new horse, just bought her last week. She was always ridden with hackamore and has a tiny head. All our quarter horse headstalls were way too big (long) - the hackamore was DrOoping down her nose. I will try the endurance site right now. Thanks again.

Hi Linda, Congratulations on your new Arab. I have had Arabs for years, and I also have problems finding tack to fit. One catalog that I've had a lot of luck with is the Schneider's catalog. They don't have a web site to order from, but you can call them at 1-800-365-1311 and request a catalog. They have everything from reasonably priced working tack to really expensive show tack. I have had great luck finding headstalls and other Arab sized items from them.

Heidi, thanks for the tip. I will give them a call! And Eveo, I did go on the endurance site and found some really good "stores" - especially liked the biothane style halters that come in colors and are Arab size. It's damp in Hawaii and leather is a mildew magnet. Thanks and again the "Advisor" has proved to be an wonderful help!
