Anybody out there have any suggestions for becoming a better pole bender?

Depends on what you're doing now, but I've found a lot of barrel racers and pole benders are taking dressage lessons now to help increase the suppleness and maneuverability of their horses. Some of the old timers laugh at this, but I equate it to the football players taking dance classes. A lot of people laughed until they started winning ... Good luck! Nancy

as a pole bender i can tell you that the flex a horse has is really important and also to have a good seat and soft hands really helps also work more with your legs than your hands i've seen alott of girls ride to much in the horses mouth beacause of using their reins too much

David is right. I'm also a pole bender and I've seen many girls get too heavy in a horse's mouth and start knocking poles down. Your manueverability comes from your seat and legs, not the horse's mouth. And flexiblity exercises are definetly a good thing to work on. Best of Luck! Brpaints
