I figure I need a negative coggins, but what else should I take for transporting the horse legally?

Thanks.

Okay, so I found this web site:

https://www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/sregs/

It suggests to me that every time someone hauls a horse across state lines, they need a health certificate from a vet that is less than 30 days old. Is this true? Do people who show often bring the vet out every month to do health certs?

Wow.

Chris you need a set of State Health Papers issued by your veterinarian, following an examination for contagious diseases, within 30 days of transport.......

Oopps I see you have already found this. Not everyone has them done, taking a small risk but the consequences may be severe, unless going to a state that checks these things rigorously like FL. Then again some shows and barns have started requiring them to get on the grounds.
