If you have a lease on a horse and the lease says that the lessee is responsible for all veterinarian cost "during the lease period," can you be held responsible if the horse is returned at the end of the lease period and is still going through care for an injury that occurred during the lease period? Of course, I know that all costs incurred during the lease period are the lessee's responsibility, just not sure about after.

I am not a lawyer, but imo "yes." You were resposible for the horse when it got hurt/sick and the bills should be yours. Just my opinion though.
