Does anyone have any information about setting up a will or trust to provide for their horses in the event of the owners death?

I went to see a lawyer about setting one up. It can be as easy or as complicated as you want. For them to set up and manage all the trust accounts (the barn sends the bills to the account manager for payment)costs an initial $1200 payment. I don't know what the annual cost will be. That's without any trips to the barn to check on the animal. I'm interested to hear what anyone else has to say. Right now, my life insurance (which is enough to keep my horse at his barn for the rest of his life) is in my mother's name with the stipulation that the policy cover my horse's expenses. The barn manager and I wrote down his care profile - vaccinations, shoeing, supplements, etc. so his care is undisturbed in the event of my death.
